We R Sports 40kg Pair Hex Coated Dumbbells

We R Sports 40kg Pair Hex Coated Dumbbells

The We R Sports 40kg Hex Dumbbells are designed to provide a heavier weights set than most fitness companies currently offer, allowing you to create more challenging workouts.

This product article takes a look at some of the design features, as well as some of the exercise options, and even a sample full body workout.

Design features

The hexagonal shape of each end does an excellent job of preventing the weights from rolling away from you when you rest them on the floor or a bench.

Although this is usually just a ‘nice to have’ with lighter collections, at 40kg per dumbbell this can save a lot of unnecessary moving of the weight, allowing you to get more rest between sets.

Each of the We R Sports 40kg dumbbells has the weight moulded into the rubber casing, which is a useful way of identifying matching pairs when you start building a larger collection.

One final important feature worth mentioning is the grip. The originally smooth finish of the metal handle has been broken up with sections of knurling, helping to improve your grip.

Unlike some rubber handled designs, this lets you quickly wrap a wrist strap around the bar if you feel your grip strength weakening towards the end of a workout.

Exercise options

Whether or not the We R Sports 40kg dumbbell set is right for your own home gym will usually come down to your own personal strength level in exercises.

If you are likely to only use the set for one exercise, then it might be difficult to find enough reasons to buy a set.

But the great thing is that once your strength is high enough in one of the larger compound exercises, such as bench press, you will usually see the same level of strength in exercises for opposing muscle groups, such as dumbbell rows.

The following list provides just a small sample of the exercise options you have available. We’ve also provided a full body workout that’s possible using just these dumbbells and a simple weights bench.

In terms of comparing sets of 40kg dumbbells, there actually aren’t that many sets available for home gyms.

If you are looking for a slightly lighter set, then the Bodymax Selectabell Dumbbells might be worth a look. Although each dumbbell can only weigh a maximum of 32.5kg instead of the full 40kg, the set is adjustable.

This means you can add and remove weight plates to create dumbbells that weigh all the way down to 5kg. The only potential downside is the price.

Usually retailing for around £300, the Bodymax set is twice the price of the We R Sports 40kg set, which is often available for just £149.
